Andrew Wright, the culinary mind behind the brand, couldn’t find a sauce that hit that perfect sweet-and-spicy balance. So, he rolled up his sleeves, stepped into his kitchen, and made it himself. Drawing inspiration from his days as a camp counselor—where he was affectionately known as Uncle Lumpy—Andrew infused each batch with nostalgia, joy, and a whole lot of heart.

“Uncle Lumpy” isn’t just a nickname. It’s a symbol of warmth, kindness, and the spirit of sharing good things with good people. For over two decades, Andrew has served thousands of youth through Scouting America, carrying that same sense of fun, trust, and loyalty into every sauce and rub he creates today.

Even now, Andrew continues to serve as the Camping Operations Director for the State of Michigan with Scouting America, running the behind-the-scenes work that keeps camps thriving. He balances that full-time commitment with running Uncle Lumpy’s Kitchen—a true testament to his dedication, passion, and heart for both service and flavor.

Our team is small but mighty: Andrew, his wife, and their son—truly a family-run business based in the heart of Central Michigan, in the village of Marion. We don’t cut corners. We focus on just one or two products at a time, crafting each one to perfection before it earns the Uncle Lumpy name. Quality over quantity, always.

Our debut flavor, Bee Sting Sauce, isn’t just a one-trick pony. Thanks to Andrew’s background in culinary arts and kitchen operations, he has a natural talent for blending bold, balanced flavors. That knack will continue to guide Uncle Lumpy’s Kitchen as we grow—ensuring every new release is just as flavorful and well-crafted as the first.
